Our most recent wedding, Isaac & Terri, was featured on African American Brides blog for Wordless Wednesday! Often my clients put so much effort into planning their weddings, all for the celebration of their union together and the enjoyment of their family & friends. It is quite gratifying to learn afterward that their wedding images caught the eye of some of the leading African American wedding publications.

Although we have all been created “in his image”, minorities are under represented in mainstream wedding publications. Therefore, I send a special thank you to African American Brides and Chocolate Brides for doing what you do. Featuring weddings from black wedding photographers, or more specifically black brides or grooms reinforces a positive image within the black / African American community. As an African American wedding photographer, I salute you for helping to give me an outlet to showcase my work, the beauty of my clients wedding day.

Brian & Kristy’s wedding photography gallery peek!

Being a wedding photographer in Raleigh is truly an amazing privilege. The trust my clients place on me is never taken likely. And as always, such was the case with Brian & Kristy. You see, I had two significant dates impacting my performance on their wedding day. The first, my anniversary. That’s right, Brian & Kristy, Ro & I share the same wedding anniversary now! Wait, why was I working instead of dinning my absolutely gorgeous wife? Well, we were expecting the birth of our third daughter, Naomi, on August 9th, so not vacation in the Bahamas for us this year. But Naomi decided to come early, July 30th! After the excitement (and panic attacks) of the previous day, I was exhausted. But, it was Kristy’s wedding day and I couldn’t let her down! I went from one celebration to another. God is good! From the birth of my daughter Naomi (I’ll share baby pics in my next post), to the Brian & Kristy’s union in Holy Matrimony. I LOVE being a wedding photographer. Without further commentary, I present Mr. & Mrs. Hayes!

Needless to say, those circumstances are not typical for a wedding photographer in Raleigh. But it is reassuring to know that you can count on IHI Photography to document the most precious times of your life. No, we’re not talking about ridding the world of sin. But, what we are talking about is preserving the memories and documenting the vows you’ve made before God and man. And, that’s pretty important.
