As an artist, there is nothing like that feeling you have when you’re executing on the top of your game. Week after week, it feels like it just keeps getting better. Such is the case with Melvin + Dawn’s Duke Gardens Engagement Session. As one of my upcoming 2012 wedding clients, Dawn informed me that they’d be in town for a weekend in late September and I was determined to take advantage of their time. Like so many of my clients, Melvin + Dawn aren’t local to the Raleigh area, and although I would’ve loved to photograph their engagement session in Virginia, Dawn’s interest in a Duke Gardens and my busy exhausted schedule proved the wiser.
This was my first time meeting with Melvin + Dawn in person. We’ve talked about their wedding day, the ceremony location, and the like, but there’s nothing quite like interacting with one another to build rapport. Now, I just have to hope that their impression of me was half a good as my impression of them. I thoroughly enjoyed their engagement session. I loved the interaction between the two. They displayed love, laughter, and a willingness to try image ideas from yours truly. In fact, they came up with several ideas of their own which is always a plus! They are without a doubt a camera ready couple.
